Red, to me, is just one of those colors that works year-round.  Of course it’s perfect in Winter, for Christmas and Valentine’s Day weddings, but it’s also perfect paired with brown for the fall, paired with other bright colors for the summer or red tulips for the spring!  Here are some great red bouquets that are suitable for all seasons!

One of the things I like about red is how it can be paired with different colors to give off a completely different feel for different settings, seasons, and feelings.  For example, red and purple seem regal together…

Red and Pink equal playful and fun (and are perfect for a Valentine’s Day wedding)

and Red and White are sweet and romantic…

Of course, no discussion of red bouquets can be had without discussing the ultimate in romantic red flowers, the rose.  Roses are traditional, but they’re also great because they come in so many different varieties, giving your floral designer a great deal of flexibility.

Are you having a red bouquet?  What kinds of flowers are you using?

WishCandy: Bouquet of Many Colors

I’ve done posts on bouquets of many different colors — purple, green, yellow…but who says your bouquet has to be all one color?  Yes, an all white bouquet for the bride is traditional, but why not have lots of different wild flowers?  Or do your bridesmaids bouquets in several of the colors of your wedding?  This post is for those bouquets that just can’t make up their minds…and you don’t have to, either!

This multicolored bouquet, photographed by Amie Otto Photography, could have worked well in our fall feature:

Bright colored bouquets, such as these from The Knot, are just SO cheerful!

You can use multicolored bouquets for both the bride and the bridesmaids, as in this photo from Walters and Walters:

This last bouquet just is the definition of a relaxed summer wedding to me…lots of pretty wildflowers:

Did you see any color combos that struck your fancy?  Or are you a single-colored bouquet kind of bride?

When many brides think of their bouquet, they think of white.  White bouquets can be absolutely gorgeous. This week we’re highlighting some amazing white bouquets, for the bride, or even for her maids!

White anemones are perfect for a black and white themed wedding…

I love the very pale pink hue to this bouquet, also with anemones…

It’s interesting how, although they’re all white, different touches, such as the type of the flower or the ribbon wrapped around the stems can change a bouquet.  This bouquet, with a bright blue ribbon wrapped around it, just screams “tropical”…

Or how the ribbon on this bouquet makes it preppy…

A mostly white bouquet bouquet with just a touch of another color, orange in this case, makes a stunning arrangement…

I love this bouquet from Nicole Ha Designs:

Walters and Walters shows that white bouquets don’t just have to be for the bride…

This lush ranunculus bouquet from The Knot just looks so perfect to me…so fluffy and gorgeous!

Although most people turn their noses up at carnations for weddings (me included), Martha shows that they can be gorgeous too!

This DIY Daffodil Bouquet, featured on Creature Comforts, is perfect for a spring wedding…

Hydrangeas make for a pretty and simple white bouquet:

Lily of the Valley is so elegant (Red Loft Studios):

And finally, the classic bride’s bouquet, white roses from Beth and Adam’s wedding (Dave Cross Photography):

Are you doing a white bouquet for your wedding?  Or do you want more colors?

Continuing on the “My Best Friend’s Wedding” theme (her colors are purple and green, yay!), this week I’ve got some gorgeous purple bouquets for you!  Again, if you know the florist or photographer, and I haven’t noted it here, please let me know!

I love this first one…it could be used as a bridesmaids bouquet or even for the moms — it’s just so delicate and unique!

I love the antique look of this lavender bouquet…not to mention it probably smells AMAZING!

This bouquet from Simply Blooms is so dark it’s almost black!

This bouquet of Dendrobium orchids, White tulips and hyacinth would be perfect for a spring bride’s bouquet!

I love that there are so many shades of purple — you can go from a pale lavender to almost black, and even a pinkish purple:

Does anyone know what this flower is called?  I have been in LOVE with this bouquet for ages!

This bouquet is from one of my favorite weddings of all time (of, you know, random people who I don’t know): The wedding of Nole and Andrew, photographed by the AMAZING Punam Bean.  Nole is the author of the gorgeous blog Oh So Beautiful Paper, and you can read all about her wedding and see more pictures here.

Love the addition of the peacock feathers in this one, as well as the simple gold ribbon wrap:

For years, I’ve been saving pictures from web sites of wedding things I love.  Whether it’s a pretty hairstyle, a beautiful bouquet, a unique centerpiece, I’ll save it.  Why?  I honestly have no idea.  Maybe for my imaginary wedding someday (George Clooney, I’m waiting for you to call!), maybe to give brides ideas, I’m not really sure.  My confusion is your bloggy goodness!

Starting today you’ll see a series called “WishCandy.”  I’ll post sets of things that I love (that are wedding related, unless you really want a post of TV shows I love, because really, I could go on and on…)  Unfortunately, I didn’t realize when I began saving images that I should probably note where the picture came from, so many of these are not credited because I simply forgot to note either who the florist was or who took the photograph or from what magazine it came.  So, if you see a photo you know, PLEASE let me know who took it!  We want to give credit where it’s due, either to the amazing floral designers out there or the photographer!

Today, in honor of my best friend’s wedding (my actual best friend, not the movie) I am posting green bouquets.  A lot of brides think there aren’t that many green flowers, or that a green bouquet will be all, well, greenery, and few flowers.  But just look and see what wonderfulness exists in the world of green flowers!  You will note that for most of these, I haven’t said the names of the types of flowers.  That’s because I am a flower moron.  I know, like, 5 flowers.  I have learned a LOT since I’ve become a wedding planner, but really, if you like a picture, just print it out and take it to your floral designer.  He or she will know what they’re looking at a lot better than I do!  I just look and say “Ooh, pretty” – which is what your guests will do too!

Florist: Simply Blooms:

I love the purple and green together:

More purple and green, this time with a more eggplant shade.  I can’t decide which I like more!

I hope you’ve enjoyed our first “WishCandy”!  Where do you find your inspiration?
